Filmfare Awards: The Filmfare Awards are presented each year by the Times to honor the artistic excellence and technical professionals in Hindi language film industry in India. Filmfare ceremony is one of the oldest film events and important data for Hindi films in India. The prices were first introduced in 1954, the same year that the National Film Awards and were originally called Clare Awards after the editor of the Times of India, Clare Mendionca. A dual voting system was developed in 1956. Under this system, "contrary to the National Film Awards, which are decided by a jury appointed by the Indian Government, the Filmfare Awards are voted by the public and a committee of experts." Filmfare Awards were often referred to as the equivalent of the Hindi film industry's Oscar.
