Guinness: Guinness is a popular Irish stout, dry arose in the brewery of Arthur Guinness at St. James's Gate, Dublin. Guinness is a direct descendant of the porter style that originated in London in the early 18th century and is one of the beer brand's most successful worldwide. A peculiarity is the burnt taste that comes from the use of roasted barley malt not (if it is a relatively modern development, because it did not become part of the grind for much of 20th century). For many years some years beer was mixed with freshly ground pepper to give a lactic tang (which was a feature of the original Porter). Although the palace ofGuinness has a characteristic "tang", the company refused to confirm whether this type of mixing still occurs. The thick creamy head is the result of beer being mixed with nitrogen when they pay. It is popular with the Irish in Ireland and abroad and, despite a drop in consumption since 2001 is still the best sellingalcoholic beverage in Ireland where Guinness & Co. makes almost € 2 billion per year.
